Visit of Latvian colleagues
On October 11-12, 2023, our colleagues - forensic medical experts from the State Center for Forensic Medical Examination of the Republic of Latvia were visiting the State Forensic Medicine Service (hereinafter - SFMS). The visit was organized under the program „International Police Cooperation and Combating Crime“ of the European Economic Area grant-funded Project „Strengthening the Capacity of the Forensic Expertise System and Inspection of the Event Site“. Latvian colleagues got acquainted with the structure and activities of the institution, practical issues, latest research methods used in forensic pathology and living persons examinations, visited SFMS laboratories in Vilnius, where they were introduced to innovative research methods and technologies applied in forensic medical examinations. Together with SFMS forensic medical experts, Latvian colleagues discussed relevant issues of forensic medicine practice, as well as possibilities of institutional cooperation.
