Visit of Latvian forensic medicine experts
On March 5-6, 14-15, 26-27 2024, the State Forensic Medicine Service (hereinafter - SFMS) organized professional training courses for Latvian colleagues. The training of forensic medicine experts of the Latvian State Forensic Medical Expertise Centre at SFMS was organized under the program of the European Economic Area (EEA)-funded project "Strengthening the Capacities of the Forensic Expertise System and Inspection of the Scene of Crime", aimed at strengthening the capacities of the forensic expert system in Latvia. According to the pre-arranged program, colleagues from Latvia participated in professional trainings related to their professional activities in SFMS laboratories of Medical Criminalistics, Serology and DNA and Toxicology. They were introduced to the expert work carried out in the laboratories, methods and equipment used for forensic analyses and tests, observed the process of analysing the samples, together with the SFMS forensic medicine experts discussed the analysis results and findings, other relevant issues of forensic medicine practice, as well as further professional cooperation between Lithuanian and Latvian forensic medicine experts.
