Toxicology Laboratory Representative Attended EU Drugs Agency (EUDA) Meeting: Cooperation in the Fight Against Drugs Discussed
A representative of the Toxicology Laboratory of the State Forensic Medicine Service (SFMS) participated in the meeting of the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) Network of forensic and toxicological laboratories (‘Network of labs’), held on October 21–22 in Lisbon, Portugal. The aim of the event was to strengthen cooperation in Europe and share experience in addressing drug-related threats.
During the meeting, Birutė Aleksandravičienė, Head of the Toxicology Laboratory and representative of the SFMS, presented the laboratory's activities and the primary challenges faced when analysing new psychoactive substances. Active discussions were held with colleagues from across Europe, focusing on the exchange of experience and the search for common solutions.
Participation in the ‘Network of labs’ provides the SFMS with the opportunity to share knowledge, improve methodologies, and contribute to a more effective response to the drug problem in Europe. The event emphasized the importance of the network, which unites 63 laboratories, in strengthening preparedness to combat drugs and new psychoactive substances across Europe. Furthermore, the latest achievements and trends in forensic toxicology were discussed, as well as the importance of data collection in shaping drug policy.
