Annual Expert Meeting of the National Early Warning System Network
On November 28, 2023, Senior forensic expert of the Toxicology Laboratory of the State Forensic Medicine Service, Acting head of the Toxicology laboratory, dr. Nerijus Karlonas participated in the joint annual meeting of experts of the National Early Warning System network of the Drug, Tobacco and Alcohol Control Department and the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). Operated by the EMCDDA, the Early Warning System on New Psychoactive Substances (EWS) is designed to allow the European Union to rapidly detect, assess, and respond to health and social threats caused by new psychoactive substances (NPS). The work of the EWS aims to build, maintain, and strengthen situational awareness, preparedness, and response activities to NPS at the national and European Union level.
